Bode: Round 1

When I was at FINE, a really interesting client/concept approached us—I really wanted to be on this identity project. A scaled back resort that feels like your own home, Bode was still in the development stage. Ultimately, my concepts weren’t chosen by the client, but I was happy enough with the work to include here. I had a ton of fun on this one.

Mid-century, today

First up is the one I was really excited about—a really flexible play on primary colors and a wordmark that had a throwback feel. Something with personality that could easily adapt to locations through artwork and imagery.

Old world meets new

The second concept was built around the idea of something a little more classic. I was inspired by the historical homes and estates you see built in and around Europe—properties that truly feel like an experience.

I could see the name, BODE, engraved in a simple plate affixed to something outside the property—a subtle signpost that you’ve arrived at your destination.

Starting from that visual feeling I explored hand-illustrated engravings that could bring to life each location, as well as a wordmark built from an engravers style typeface. Rich, contrasting colors rounded out this approach along with a refined sense of expression.
