Trees For The Future is a non-profit whose mission is centered around the true meaning of sustainability around the world. By empowering rural farmers who have been impoverished by deforestation and climate change in third world countries with the knowledge and skillsets needed to grow Forest Gardens, they help to achieve the trifecta of economic, environmental and cultural impacts needed to sustain in this world.

What came to us as a website redesign (of sorts) turned into a finely tuned digital strategy integrated with a dedicated giving platform.

Trees For The Future approached Parisleaf with the goal of helping them with content strategy and design within their existing site. However, we learned through off-handed comments during discovery that the organization had two glaring opportunities they were mis-managing. The first being ownership of Trees.org, which until that point was only used as a redirect to their main website. The second of these two opportunities was an entire audience they never even sought to reach… the individual, small donor.

We provided the following:

  • Content strategy

  • Identity

  • Art Direction

  • Writing

  • Digital design

  • Development

The content strategy called for a visual language that was vibrant, relevant and inspired. Also important was balancing the results against looking too grassroots or too corporate. We needed to make this feel accessible and authentic, while also providing the legitimacy for which the organization is known.

Imagery was everything

I must have scoured thousands of photos by volunteers and members who had visited some of the Forest Gardens to identify the moments we would use to tell the story. We poured over the details in post to make sure they all felt of one family.

It was those families and individuals that we wanted at the center of the story. By weaving the identity elements and photography together throughout the platform we could connect to those individual donors who may just want to pitch in whatever they could to help.
